2026–2027 Season Information

Welcome to the 8U Program at Monument Ice Rinks! All our 8U programming is CO-ED ran by Al Pederson at Monument ice rinks. Our goal is to provide a fun, positive, and high-energy environment where young players can develop confidence, skating skills, teamwork, and a love for the game.

Important Information

Evaluation Skates

During the first 3 weeks of the season, players will participate in evaluation skates. These sessions help our coaching staff group players by skill level and place them in the best environment for development.

Players may be grouped into:

Beginner
Rookie
Intermediate
Advanced
Our coaches will evaluate players after each session and communicate any recommended group adjustments with families.

Age Group Notes

New players born in 2018/2019 should begin in the younger age group.
Older 2019 birth years may contact the director regarding placement with the 2018 group.
Group adjustments help balance player numbers and create the best coaching environment possible.
We strongly encourage players to attend every session.

Helmet Information

Please place your child’s:

First Name
Last Initial
Birth Year
on the front of their helmet.

Example:

Kayla S. – 2018

This helps coaches organize groups quickly and efficiently during evaluations.

Schedule Information

The first 3 weeks of the season will follow an evaluation schedule designed to help coaches assess players and create balanced development groups.

Additional schedule updates, jersey distribution information, and team placements will be communicated throughout the evaluation period.

If you have multiple siblings in the program, we will do our best to keep schedules aligned when possible.

Please arrive early for check-in and equipment assistance.

Equipment Requirements

Players are required to have:

  • Full hockey equipment
  • USA Hockey-approved neck guard
  • Water bottle
  • Jersey (distributed during the season)
